PROJECT 2A: DOUBLE EXPOSURE :

Double Exposure and Image Blending Modes

Double exposure photography involves merging two or more images into one. These compositions often feature silhouettes and aim to convey surreal, emotional, or even humorous effects.

  1. Use Tilt-Shift Effects
You can blur parts of the photo to create a tilt-shift effect. To apply this, go to Filter > Blur Gallery > Tilt-Shift.

  2. Create Fake Reflections
Reflections can be made in several ways, including using a second photo to simulate a double exposure.

  3. Combine Simple Portraits with Detailed Textures
Mixing simple elements with complex textures can produce a well-balanced visual result.

  4. Convert Your Final Image to Black and White
Removing color can enhance the emotional tone of a double exposure. It gives the image a cinematic quality and deeper expressive impact.

  5. Experiment with Silhouettes
Using outlines or silhouettes is a great way to structure a double exposure. Try pushing creative boundaries with this method.

  6. Randomly Pair Two Photos
Sometimes the best double exposures are happy accidents. Unplanned combinations can lead to surprising and creative outcomes.

  7. Make Simple Objects Look Captivating
Merging the shapes of everyday objects with landscapes or patterns can add imaginative flair to your composition.

  8. Use Shadows Creatively
Any type of outline, including shadows, can work well in double exposure photography. Shadows are just as effective as silhouettes for creating depth and contrast.

POSTER 3:

Theme:Genesis: The Future - Imagine the Innovative World of the Future
Category: Magic Lock Screen (Square & Vertical poster only)
Title:  “Neon Invasion”

Summary of your design concept:

The concept aims to explore the tension and harmony between technology and mystery, using light trails and vivid color contrasts to draw the viewer’s eyes from the urban details upward into the cosmos. The piece will use layered lighting and perspective to create depth while maintaining a cinematic, sci-fi atmosphere, encouraging viewers to imagine what the arrival of advanced beings could mean for future cities.

FINAL POSTER:

TITLE: “Neon Invasion”

SUMMARY:
This design visualizes a futuristic cityscape under a star-filled sky as a massive, neon-lit UFO hovers above, emitting a radiant beam of light onto the skyline. The flowing, luminous highways below mirror the circular neon patterns of the spaceship, creating a cohesive visual rhythm. The concept explores the theme of technological transcendence and cosmic mystery, using vibrant neon colors and dynamic light trails to evoke a sense of wonder, innovation, and the unknown possibilities of the future city. The composition leads the viewer’s eyes from the illuminated highways toward the spaceship, emphasizing connection between human civilization and extraterrestrial exploration.

Reflection:

1. Double Exposure
Double exposure is an expressive way of creating images. By combining multiple images, it creates a dreamy, hazy and even mysterious visual effect. In this project, I tried to convey deeper themes and emotions through overlapping images, so that the ordinary photos can gain narrative and appeal. Each step of adjustment - from transparency and contrast to the order and alignment of layer stacking - directly affects the atmosphere and completeness of the final picture. Although it seems to be just a technical operation, it is actually a comprehensive challenge to details, patience and perception. This process made me better understand the delicate balance between "control" and "emotional release" in visual expression, and gradually found my favorite image language style.

2. Poster Design
In the poster design task, I conceived around the theme of "future technology" and merged the UFO I created with the background image through Photoshop, trying to construct a picture that is both unified and visually tense. Color matching, composition rhythm and layer logic processing are the key points I repeatedly pondered in this design. After referring to some excellent works in international competitions, I have a clearer understanding of the sense of rhythm and visual guidance in composition. Through repeated revisions and adjustments, I became more familiar with the logic of image integration in practice and also improved my sensitivity to layout language. The final work made me realize that mature design requires not only artistic intuition, but also meticulous technical control and clear expression strategies.
